About Compress PDF

Start with a lossless structure rewrite when a PDF exceeds a sharing limit. This normalizes the writer’s representation and may improve object-stream packing without reducing image resolution. The result reports both file sizes, including when there is little saving or the output grows.

Optional raster compression can help image-heavy documents, but it rebuilds every page as a JPG. That removes selectable text, links, forms and vector precision. Pick a resolution suitable for the smallest text and inspect the output at normal reading size. Already efficient PDFs may not benefit. No target size or percentage reduction is guaranteed.

Compress PDF: frequently asked questions

How much smaller will my PDF get?

It depends on the file. PDFs with large photos or scans can shrink a lot, while text-only PDFs are often already compact. The result shows both sizes and says when there was little to save.

What is the difference between Recommended and Strong?

Recommended rewrites the file and keeps text and quality. Strong turns every page into a JPG image: the file gets much smaller, but text can no longer be selected or searched.

Can I compress a PDF to an exact size such as 1 MB?

There is no target-size setting, and no particular reduction is guaranteed. With Strong, a lower page resolution and image quality give smaller files; check that small text is still readable.

Can I compress several PDFs at once?

Yes. Each PDF is compressed separately and the results can be downloaded together as a ZIP.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The PDF is processed in your browser on your device and is not sent to KittySuite or anyone else.
