About Repair Video

Rebuilding copies every readable frame into a fresh container with new timestamps and skips damaged data. It fixes files with broken indexes, wrong timestamps or interrupted recordings that still contain their data. It cannot recreate frames that are physically missing; if rebuilding fails, try re-encoding the readable frames.

Processing happens in this tab with FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly; your files are never uploaded. The first video or audio tool you use downloads the 10 MB engine once and keeps it cached for next time. Long or high-resolution videos take longer than on a desktop editor, especially on phones, where files are processed one at a time to stay within memory. Keep the tab open until the download appears.

Repair Video: frequently asked questions

Can this fix a video that will not play?

Often, when the container or timestamps are broken. Rebuilding copies every readable frame into a fresh file with new timestamps, without re-encoding.

What if rebuilding does not work?

Try “Re-encode the readable frames”, which decodes what it can and writes a new video.

Can it recover a recording that was interrupted?

If the data is in the file, often yes. Frames that are physically missing cannot be recreated.

Is my video uploaded?

No. FFmpeg runs inside your browser. The first video or audio tool you use downloads the roughly 10 MB engine from this site once; your files are never uploaded.
