About Normalise Loudness
KittySuite measures the whole file first and then applies one smooth gain change, so the dynamics are kept, with peaks held under −1.5 dB. Use −14 LUFS for streaming platforms, −16 for podcasts and −23 for broadcast. Videos keep their picture unchanged.
Processing happens in this tab with FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly; your recordings are never uploaded. The first video or audio tool you use downloads the 10 MB engine once and keeps it cached for next time. On phones, files are processed one at a time to stay within memory, and long recordings take a little longer. Keep the tab open until the download appears.
Normalise Loudness: frequently asked questions
How do I normalise audio loudness?
Choose the files and a target: −14 LUFS for streaming and YouTube, −16 for podcasts, −23 for broadcast, or your own value.
Will normalising squash the dynamics?
No. The whole file is measured first and one smooth gain change is applied, with peaks held under −1.5 dB.
What is LUFS?
A measure of perceived loudness (EBU R128). Matching LUFS makes different files sound equally loud.
Does it work on videos?
Yes. The sound is normalised and the picture is unchanged.
