About Resize Image

Resize when a destination needs a particular width or height, even if the file size is already acceptable. Enter pixels for exact dimensions, or switch to a percentage to scale both axes together. The aspect lock is on by default. Editable profile, square, landscape and application examples can save typing, but they are not official standards.

When the desired shape differs from the source, choose crop or padding explicitly. Cropping fills the frame and removes edges. Padding preserves the whole picture with empty or coloured space around it. Enlarging a small image adds pixels without recovering detail. Check the exported dimensions and keep your original for future sizes.

Resize Image: frequently asked questions

How do I resize an image to exact pixels?

Choose your image, enter the width and height in pixels and select Resize image. Keep the aspect-ratio lock on if you do not want the picture stretched.

What is the difference between crop and padding?

When the new shape differs from the original, crop fills the frame and trims the edges, while padding keeps the whole picture and adds a plain border around it.

Can I resize by percentage instead?

Yes. Switch to percentage and enter a value such as 50% to halve both the width and the height.

Are there ready-made sizes for passport photos and signatures?

There are example presets, such as a 413 × 531 passport-style photo and a 300 × 100 signature. They are starting points only, so always check the size printed in the official form notice.

Does making an image bigger improve its quality?

No. Enlarging adds pixels but cannot recover detail that was never there. For a sharper enlargement of a photo, try Upscale Image instead.
