About Upscale Image
Enlarge a small or low-resolution photo to twice or four times its width and height. Instead of simply stretching pixels, an AI super-resolution model (Real-ESRGAN) predicts the missing detail, so edges stay crisp and JPEG compression blocks are smoothed away. Use it for old photos, small product images or pictures saved from chat apps.
Upscaling cannot recover detail that was never captured: tiny faces, text and fine textures may look painted or invented. Compare the before and after closely before printing. The 4× result has 16 times as many pixels and must fit in what your browser can draw: about 1 megapixel of input on phones and Safari, much more on desktop Chrome, Edge or Firefox. The model is small (about 5 MB) but the work is heavy: with a supported graphics card it takes seconds, on the CPU it can take a minute or more, and phones may run out of memory.
Upscale Image: frequently asked questions
How do I upscale a low-resolution photo?
Choose the photo, pick 2× or 4× and start. An AI super-resolution model (Real-ESRGAN) predicts missing detail so edges stay sharper than a simple stretch.
Does the AI run on my device?
Yes. The model, about 5 MB, downloads once from this site and runs in your browser. Your photo is not uploaded.
How long does upscaling take?
With a supported graphics card it takes seconds. On the processor alone it can take a minute or more, and phones may run out of memory on large images.
Is there a size limit for 4× upscaling?
The result has to fit in what your browser can draw. On phones and Safari that is roughly 1 megapixel of input for 4×; desktop Chrome, Edge and Firefox can handle much more.
Can upscaling recover faces or text?
Only partly. Detail that was never captured cannot be recovered, so tiny faces and text may look painted. Compare before and after closely before printing.
